A little love from the vault

Valentine’s Day is a waste of time, effort and usually money. But I’m perpetually single — and quite happy to be in that state.
Seven years ago, while in my senior year of college, I wrote a piece on being single during the supposedly most romantic day of the year for The Telescope at Palomar College. We printed it with a great quiz and sidebars on the best single movies and songs to watch and listen to on Valentine’s.
It’s funny, bitter and gives you plenty of great things to do on this Hallmark holiday.
So here you go, from the College Years archive, “Alone on Valentine’s Day.”
And so you know, I’ll be spending the evening with friends singing karaoke.
