Despite all the inflated media hype estimating the most-watched, most-attended presidential inauguration in history, the Gipper beat out the One.
Nielsen Media Research says 37.8 million TV viewers watched Tuesday’s coverage. Reagan drew in 41.8 million, and one can assume that far fewer of Reagan’s viewers were dissapointed with the speech.
What’s more, the media over-hyped the number of people who attended the inauguration in person — by about a million people. Though, Obama’s not a stranger to Mall events with over-estimated attendance.
