The Union-Tribune has been running a great series of profiles of local military personnel who have earned medals of valor in Iraq and Afghanistan. The paper calls it “Home of the Brave,” and San Diego County certainly is.

My favorite is Sgt. J:

“I am fighting so my son won’t have to go finish the job. I hope that when he is 26, he is not fighting the same enemy.”

The attitudes these guys express are amazing.
