Not backing down

Hillary Clinton’s latest campaign commercial is a bit baffling.
It’s about health care — the universal kind. Someone would have to be living a cave during the last two decades to not know this is Hillary’s big issue, but why run a commercial touting one of the biggest blunders of her husband’s administration?
The commercial asks which candidate voters should think “will never back down” on universal healthcare. Was it not Hillary’s womb-to-tomb proposal of 1993 that helped bring about the Republican revolution of 1994? Didn’t it die soundly in Congress — a Congress run by the Clintons’ own party?
I’m no fan of Hillary, and she can ride the universal health care train all she wants, but it seems a mistake. Especially by tying Sept. 11 and Army reservist care to it. All that does is draw attention to the government’s complete inability to operate a good health care system (do we really want the folks running Walter Reid in charge of a national system?).
Sure, the lady in the pantsuit may not back down — but that’s all the more reason to not vote for her.
