There's joy that we killed Osama bin Laden — so show us the photos.
The family's foundation isn't just shaken, it seems to have vanished.
I can only hope to live up to the example my grandpa set for our family.

Baby Harry

The pouty majority leaderHarry Reid — the bratty kid hosting a party who pouts because the other kids won’t play his silly, little game.

The afternoon after the Senate Slumber Party of 2007 ended with no results, the esteemed majority leader pulled the defense appropriations bill off the floor. The Las Vegas Mormon says he won’t bring it back until the deadlines for troop withdrawal from Iraq are included.

He may as well be crying to mommy, “They won’t let me hit the piñata first, and it’s my party!”

Let’s not forget what is included in the defense appropriation: raises for our troops fighting this war, improvements to their health care coverage and updated war-fighting equipment for them to use on the ground.

It sure becomes difficult to make the case you are against the war but still support the troops when you delay giving those same troops raises and new equipment because you lost your turn at pin-the-tail on the donkey.

The whining didn’t stop there. Reid asked Republicans to drop the 60-vote requirement to bring debate to a close, calling it “a new math that was developed by the Republicans to protect the president.”

That’s like blaming your messy room on your kid brother. The 60-vote rule has been around since 1975, after the Senate dropped a previous 65-vote rule. Before the Democrats took control earlier this year, they didn’t mind using it themselves.

Remember back when Trent Lott threatened to use the “Nuclear Option” in 2005 to prevent Democrats from blocking judicial nominees? Remember how much baby Reid complained then?

He threatened to shut down all action of the Senate using filibusters (apparently, he didn’t like that party either). Reid would be wise to remember what happened to the GOP after the government shutdown of 1995.

Reid doesn’t have the votes. Period. They debated the amendment to pull the troops out by next spring for 24 hours, and still fell short.

Grow up, follow the rules of the Senate, consider the pull-out amendment dead and move forward on the defense appropriations bill. Don’t ask mommy to punish our brave men and women serving around the world because you didn’t get your way at the slumber party.
